Now entering their 4th year participating in AIDS Walk Boston, “Bagel Buddies,” the corporate team for Bruegger’s Bagels, has become one of the Walk’s top fundraising teams. The team raised an impressive $2,000 at their first Walk in 2005, and has since grown to a team consisting of members from 36 Bruegger’s bakery locations, raising over $14,000 in 2007!
How? Well, we like to call it the “Bruegger’s Method.” With plenty of leadership from their Team Captain, Steve Buttrick, a generous helping of dedication, and a dash of creativity, Bagel Buddies has created one of the Walk’s most ambitious and far-reaching fundraising strategies. Bruegger’s Bakeries all over New England participate in the effort, bringing AIDS Walk Boston as far as Connecticut and Vermont. In addition to individual fundraising among family and friends by each team member, each store location puts a “Support Team Bagel Buddies” donation jar next to their registers. Customers can drop their change in the jar to sponsor the team.
Last year’s donations, which mostly consisted of loose change, totalled over $14,000, making Bagel Buddies the 4th highest fundraising team overall in the Walk. Every dollar and every penny counts!
This year, Bagel Buddies has set their most abitious fundraising goal yet: $25,000! This is in celebration of both the 25th anniversary of AIDS Action Committe and the 25th anniversary of Bruegger’s. To support Bruegger’s and help them reach their goal, click here.
