Chris Wittke
National Behavioral Health Surveillance Program Manager
AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts

Chris Wittke has worked in the Prevention & Education Department of the AIDS Action Committee since June, 1993, when he was hired to co-ordinate a new outreach program for men who have sex with men in public sex environments. Over the years he has run a variety of gay male programming and contributed to the creation of several innovative social marketing campaigns and one grassroots street theatre troupe. He currently manages the Boston field team of a national health behavior survey.

Before coming to AIDS Action Committee, Chris was the Features Editor of Gay Community News, at the time the longest-running weekly LGBT newspaper in the country. He helped craft the first safer sex and drug-use guidelines published in GCN and wrote many articles over the years with a focus on sexuality.

Chris was the media columnist for BEAR Magazine from 1991-2000 and for the past six years has been a columnist for 100% Beef Magazine. His writing has been featured in several anthologies, including Flesh & The Word 2: An Anthology of Erotic Writing (Plume); and Quickies 2: Short Short Fiction on Gay Male Desire (Arsenal Pulp Press). Chris was honored to be included in last year’s Homosex: 60 Years of Gay Erotica (Carroll & Graf/Running Press).
